EXPECTED OUTCOMES

What this module should improve

Use these outcomes to decide whether the module is helping the restaurant—not simply adding another screen.
01

A clear opening brief

Start each service window with the same view of demand, exceptions, deadlines and owners.

02

Faster exception handling

Move from an alert to the relevant order, menu, review, campaign or listing workflow.

03

Accountable handoffs

Record who owns an issue and whether it was resolved, deferred or escalated.

04

Less operational noise

Prioritize signals by urgency and restaurant impact instead of treating every notification equally.

CORE FUNCTIONALITY

What the workspace includes

Each capability supports a specific restaurant decision or repeatable operating task.

Priority queue

Ranks time-sensitive actions such as unaccepted orders, unavailable items, unanswered reviews and scheduled campaigns needing approval.

Service pulse

Summarizes order states, direct-order volume and exceptions so the manager can see where service is slowing down.

Daily focus areas

Groups the small number of tasks most likely to affect revenue, guest trust or service quality today.

News and updates

Surfaces relevant platform, restaurant and market updates as context—not as automatic operational instructions.

Role-aware view

Shows actions a signed-in person is permitted to see and complete for the selected restaurant and location.

Resolution history

Keeps the owner, time, note and status for completed or escalated actions so the next shift has context.

RECOMMENDED OPERATING RHYTHM

A practical step-by-step workflow

Follow the sequence consistently, then adapt ownership and timing to the restaurant’s service model.
  1. 1

    Open the daily brief

Review the restaurant, location, date and role shown at the top before acting.

  2. 2

    Scan critical signals

Start with guest-impacting or time-sensitive exceptions, then review warnings and scheduled work.

  3. 3

    Confirm an owner

Assign every meaningful action to one accountable person instead of leaving it with the whole team.

  4. 4

    Open the source module

Use the linked order, menu, campaign, review or access workflow to make the actual change.

  5. 5

    Record the outcome

Resolve, defer or escalate the item with a concise note and any follow-up time.

  6. 6

    Complete shift handoff

Review unresolved work with the next manager and confirm ownership before signing out.

RESTAURANT SCENARIOS

How the module works in practice

These examples show the trigger, the expected team response and the operational result.

Order queue is backing up

Trigger
Preparing orders exceed the restaurant’s normal threshold.
Team response
Open Orders, identify the bottleneck, adjust the promise where supported and assign guest communication.
Expected result
The team has one response owner and a documented service decision.

Holiday hours are incomplete

Trigger
A public-listing alert appears before a holiday.
Team response
Verify approved hours, update the source record and publish only to enabled destinations.
Expected result
Guests see fewer conflicting hours and the publication status is visible.

A sensitive review arrives

Trigger
A review is classified as urgent or high-risk.
Team response
Assign the general manager, pause any templated reply and follow the escalation playbook.
Expected result
The restaurant responds deliberately instead of reacting from a personal account.

ROLE-BASED ACCESS

Who should be able to do what

Start with least privilege. Add exceptions only with an owner, a reason and a review date.
RoleRecommended accessRestricted by default
Organization OwnerAll locations, priorities and configurationSensitive exports and role changes should require re-authentication
General ManagerFull daily view for assigned locationsNo organization-wide identity-policy changes
Shift ManagerOrders, service issues, menu availability and reviewsNo customer export, billing or role elevation

MEASUREMENT

Metrics that lead to action

Define each metric before launch and attach an operational response to movement in the wrong direction.

Time to acknowledge

Median time from a critical alert to an assigned owner.

Use it to: Clarify alert routing when ownership is slow.

Time to resolve

Median time from acknowledgement to a recorded resolution.

Use it to: Improve the playbook for recurring delays.

Overdue priorities

Open priority items past their target time.

Use it to: Escalate blockers and remove low-value alerts.

Clean handoff rate

Shifts ending with owners and notes on every unresolved critical item.

Use it to: Coach managers when context is repeatedly missing.

IMPLEMENTATION

Setup checklist

Complete this work before treating the module as production-ready for a restaurant location.
  1. 01

Confirm each location’s operating hours and service windows.

  2. 02

Choose which order, review, listing and campaign signals belong in Today.

  3. 03

Set urgency levels and an accountable role for each alert type.

  4. 04

Define opening, peak-service and closing checklists.

  5. 05

Test the view using each standard restaurant role.

  6. 06

Review alert usefulness after the first two weeks and remove noise.

GOVERNANCE

Controls and safeguards

Restaurant data, customer trust and public publishing need deliberate controls around every workflow.

Source-system links

Every summary should lead to the workflow where the underlying record can be verified.

Role filtering

A user must not see a priority that exposes a module, customer or location outside their scope.

Human acknowledgement

Important recommendations require a person to accept, defer or escalate them.

Handoff history

Resolution notes and ownership changes should remain visible to authorized managers.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What restaurant teams usually ask

Open a question for a practical answer and the related operating boundary.
Does Today replace order, accounting or compliance systems?

No. It summarizes operating signals and routes the user to the relevant workflow. Financial, tax and compliance records must be verified in their authoritative systems.

Why can two users see different priorities?

The view is filtered by restaurant, location and role. A marketing manager and shift manager should not receive the same set of actions.

Can the team hide an alert?

Authorized users can resolve, defer or reclassify an item. Critical categories should require a reason so problems are not silently dismissed.

How often should managers check it?

At minimum before opening, during peak transitions and at shift handoff. High-volume restaurants may keep it open throughout service.
